Dribble - Lover 7''

Image
Hailing from the mutant Aussie punk scene actually have, Dribble's line up has Nathan and Tom from Gutter Gods fame. This record is perfect from the start to the end. Drug fuelled punk influenced by The Stooges or Electrics Eels, the first song ''Girl of my dreams'' is the perfect example of the mix between these two bands. Snotty but recognizable vocals, loose guitar riffs and sound. But to me, the highlight is a the B Side, because ''High St Girl'' is definitely the hit of this 7'' for me, catchy chorus, still this Electic Eels vibe and a bit of Velvet Underground sounding. Great guitar arrangements and epic final solo that ends up in larsens and noise. Wow, another great band coming out from Melbourne. What's happening there?? Cool Death / Distort. 2014. Australia.

City Hunter - Demo Cs (2012)

Image
Three tracks in less than three minutes, that's what I like to call hardcore. Raw and harsch to the point. Aggressive cover, with a man smiling in the shadow, wearing leather mask and gloves, threatening a girl with a huge ass knife on her throat. I wish the second release will include a picture of the cut bitch. It reminded me of the good Giallo films era, and this comes in a case similar to old VHS ones, even the back have a storyline-like with the lyrics and a tagline''  ..'til the blade goes dull '' . Best packaging ever. There is this menacing sound that's mind blowing, I love it, violent and dark, I really can't wait to hear their EP that will be put out by Youth Attack records, I believe. This review is as short as this demo cassette, but what else could I say? Three top notch songs to listen to while you're prowling these filthy streets. A soundtrack for human hunt. Stab and repeat. Stab and repeat. Stab and repeat. Blackout rage...

Meatdog and The Gutter Gods - Interview (2014)

Image
I knew Meatdog via his first Groin Gravy issue, a real slap in the face. A mix of savagery, ultra violence, gratuitous nudity, sexism, misanthropy and good record reviews. Even the Lyrics from Banana Nut Cake were turned into a porn recipe. After numerous mails, emails and fanzines exchanges, i learned to know the man behind all this mess. A crazy gentleman (straight edge and way funnier than you) with a face that will make you get out of his way, tattooed from the feet to the head (on which we can find a spider and a fucking X). After a first Oi! Band,  Reckless Aggression , Meatdog founded Gutter Gods with some iceheads who were previously playing in Kicked In : A noisy and weird space-hardcore, somewhere between  Mayhem  et  YDI , brightened up by  angry shows with green lasers . He introduces us to his city, Melbourne, his prostitutes friends and all other kind of shit. One of the interesting aspect of Gutter Gods for me is this « futuristic hard...

Bruce LaBruce - Interview (2012)

Image
I don't remember when was the first time I heard about Bruce LaBruce, but I do remember a story from around the time we decided to start Sex Before Suicide fanzine (pre-Neons). That was in September 2009, my friend Zero and I just saw the Etrange festival's program in Paris and were totally bummed when we realized we missed the 'carte blanche' of Bruce the day before. We were pissed! Firstly, because this is one truly talented filmmaker, and secondly because he was introducing his movie Otto Or Up With Dead People, as well as a selection of movies he chose to show. The next day, we went to see some japanese pinku flicks in the aftermoon. The evening screening was great, Larry Cohen's God Told Me To was playing and it was weird as fuck. Those who've seen the movie understand what I'm saying. To get back to Bruce LaBruce, when we were back home we had this discussion about how No Skin Off My Ass plot was similar to an anecdote in Zero's life, and a subj...
